Don't use toothpaste, it's too abrasive and will wear off the silver prematurely. Try any product you're going to use on the part of the item that doesn't show, first - wait a bit, just in case. This one also buffs off easily when you're finished, turns from liquid into something like a powder, so you don't have to scrape and scratch to remove it, either. I won't buy anything else.
